The days when simply being a native speaker of English was enough to get you a TEFL job are long gone. Nowadays you need to be trained and qualified.

You should also remember that your chances of getting a TEFL job in Spain are significantly improved if you have a degree, have some teaching experience and if you speak at least some Spanish.

TEFL Qualifications: Trinity CertTESOL

The Trinity CertTESOL is an initial training qualification to equip people with the basic skills and knowledge needed to take up a first post as an ESOL teacher. Accredited at Level 4 on the UK National Qualifications Framework, it gives an introduction to the theory and practice of contemporary English teaching and an insight into the challenges facing the learner and the teacher.

TEFL Qualifications: Cambridge CELTA

Previously known as CTEFLA and the ‘RSA certificate’, CELTA is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience and is awarded by Cambridge English, part of the University of Cambridge. , you can rely on its quality and recognition. Over 10,000 people successfully complete a CELTA course each year. ‘TEFL’ or ‘TESOL’ are terms often used to describe qualifications for English Language teachers and CELTA is one of the best known of these.
